PPT
Microsoft PowerPoint Presentation (legacy)
PPT is the legacy binary format for Microsoft PowerPoint, which first appeared on Windows in 1990 (having been introduced on Mac in 1987). Like XLS, it uses an OLE2 compound document structure to encode slides, animations, and embedded objects in a proprietary binary layout. Microsoft replaced PPT with PPTX in Office 2007; PPT files remain common in archives and legacy corporate workflows.
