TrueType Font

TrueType is a font format developed jointly by Apple and Microsoft in the late 1980s and released in 1991 as a response to Adobe's Type 1 format. It stores glyph outlines as quadratic Bezier curves and includes hinting instructions that optimize text rendering at small screen sizes. TTF remains one of the most common font formats on Windows and macOS; many popular web fonts are distributed as TTF or its compressed web variant, WOFF.
